A soft sunflower teething toy with a stuffed center — takes very little yarn and makes a sweet baby gift.
Here's a free pattern for a simple baby teething toy. I make these to look like sunflowers but you can make them in any color!
This pattern takes very little yarn. You will need the following supplies:
G Hook Approximately 3 oz of yarn Polyfiberfill
Flower Center :
Make two CH 4 and form ring
R1 — CH 2 and then stitch 11 HDC in the ring. This will give you a total of 12 HDC in the ring. Join and CH 2.
R2 — 2 HDC in each stitch around. Join and CH 2.
R3 — HDC in first stitch. 2 HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next two stitches. Continue to increase every third stitch until you reach the starting point. Join and CH 2.
R4 — HDC in first stitch. 2 HDC in the next stitch. HDC in the next two stitches. Continue to increase every third stitch until you reach the starting point. Join and tie off.
Flower Petal :
Join the two flower centers with the back sides together on the inside. You are going to stitch the two parts together.
Join the flower petal yarn at the starting point and then 3 TC in each until the opening is about one inch. At this point, stuff the flower center with polyfiberfill. Then, continue with 3 TC in each stitch until you reach the starting point. Join and tie off.

start at the very beginning…Do you want to learn to crochet?
Many years ago I made a set of instructional videos for my YouTube channel. Even though these videos are older now, crochet techniques don't change — everything in them still works exactly the same today.
When you're first learning, I recommend a cheap, sturdy yarn. Specialty yarn takes some experience, because you first need to get the feel of tension and gauge. The yarn I'd reach for while learning is Red Heart Super Saver — easy to find at your local Walmart, Michaels, or on Amazon.
For hooks, I recommend Clover Hooks. Believe me — your hands and wrists will thank me for this.
now, follow along to learn how to crochet!
